Disputed claim intake suspended effective March 16, 2026 — new storm claims still accepted through contractor portal
Coin Claims Services Suspends Disputed Claim Intake Following March 16 Storm Event — New Claims Now Being Accepted
In response to the severe weather system that struck our service areas of Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., and North Carolina on March 16, 2026 — bringing damaging winds, large hail, and confirmed tornado activity — Coin Claims Services is temporarily pausing the acceptance of disputed claims to prioritize the high volume of new storm damage submissions entering the pipeline.
- ■Effective immediately: Disputed claims (claims that have been denied or underpaid in any capacity) are not being accepted.
- ■Duration: 6–8 weeks minimum, potentially longer as CCS's footprint and Platinum Partnerships grow.
- ■Volume advisory: CCS may suspend all non-Platinum submissions if volume warrants. Submit promptly to secure your place in the pipeline.
- ■Platinum Partners: Automatically detected at submission — only a handful of damage photos required. CCS handles everything else.
- ■Platinum fee rate: 10% — no upfront costs, all reports and adjuster meetings covered by CCS.
- ■Platinum availability: We currently have very limited openings for roofing companies wishing to join the Platinum tier. Availability will be monitored based on volume.
- ■Non-Platinum new claims: Still being accepted — submit through the contractor portal.
- ■Non-Platinum fee rate: 15% for all new storm claims from this event.
- ■Non-Platinum required docs: Roof Report required. Weather Report not required for wind damage claims from this event.
The March 16 storm system produced a Level 4 of 5 severe weather risk across the Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas, with the National Weather Service issuing tornado watches covering 17 Maryland counties, much of Virginia, and portions of North Carolina.
Our adjusters are a finite resource. The projected volume of new claims entering our pipeline from this event requires our full attention. Accepting disputed claims simultaneously would compromise the quality of our work, and disrupt our partnerships with contractors that we work with at the highest level — and that is not something we are willing to do.
All contractors — regardless of partner tier — will submit new claims through the unified contractor portal at coinclaimspro.com/contractor-storm-claim. The system automatically detects Platinum Partner status at the time of submission. Platinum Partners will be recognized instantly and are only required to upload a handful of damage photos; CCS handles all remaining documentation, adjuster meetings, and reporting.
Non-Platinum contractors should include a Roof Report with their submission. Due to the widespread and well-documented nature of the March 16 storm system, a Weather Report is not required for wind damage claims from this event. Non-Platinum contractor new claims will be assessed a 15% fee rate for all new storm damage claims submitted from this event.
When you identify storm damage at a property, the conversation with the homeowner is your most important moment. Here is how to introduce Coin Claims Services naturally and confidently:
- 1.Lead with the damage, not the service. “Based on what I’m seeing up here, your roof has significant storm damage. Your insurance should cover this — but the amount they offer you matters a lot.”
- 2.Introduce the PA role simply. “I work with a licensed public adjuster — they represent you, not the insurance company. Their job is to make sure the insurance company doesn’t lowball you. They only get paid when you get paid, so there’s no cost to you upfront.”
- 3.Set the expectation. “Most homeowners who use a PA get significantly more than those who go it alone. The insurance company has their own adjuster — you should have someone in your corner too.”
- 4.Close the loop. “All I need is your permission to submit your information. Coin Claims will reach out, review your policy, and walk you through everything. You don’t have to deal with the insurance company alone.”
Key principle: Never file the claim before submitting to CCS. Once the insurance company’s adjuster has visited, the terms change. Submit first — we handle the rest.
Many roofers claim to be “insurance specialists.” While we respect the expertise of roofers, many insurance carriers and their adjusters do not — and that distinction matters when it comes to your client’s settlement. Here is how to explain clearly and confidently why working with a licensed public adjuster is fundamentally different:
- ✗ Not licensed to represent you in an insurance claim
- ✗ Their goal is to get the roof approved — not to maximize your total settlement
- ✗ Cannot negotiate on your behalf or dispute a denial
- ✗ No legal standing if the insurance company underpays or denies
- ✓ Licensed public adjuster — legally authorized to represent the homeowner
- ✓ Fights for the full settlement: roof, interior, contents, additional living expenses
- ✓ Attends every adjuster meeting and negotiates directly with the carrier
- ✓ No upfront cost — paid only from the settlement we secure
- ✓ Your customer gets more money. You get a better-funded job.
What to say to the homeowner: “A lot of roofers say they handle insurance — but they can’t legally represent you. I work with a licensed public adjuster who can. They go to bat for you on the entire claim, not just the roof. And they only get paid when you do.”
Never let the insurance company’s adjuster visit before submitting to CCS. Once they have been out, the terms change. Submit first — we handle the rest.
A follow-up notice will be issued to all contractor partners before disputed claim intake resumes. Contractors with claims subject to urgent statutory deadlines should contact CCS directly at 866-377-2646.
CCS will be monitoring submission volume closely in the coming days. If volume warrants, we reserve the right to suspend all new claim submissions from contractors outside of our Platinum tier. Platinum Partners will not be affected. Non-Platinum contractors are encouraged to submit promptly to secure their place in the pipeline before any further restrictions are implemented.
Contractors should also be aware that upon expiration of the pause, any disputed claims from the March 16 storm event will be handled at the 20% fee rate. Contractors are encouraged to submit new storm damage claims now — before any adjuster meeting occurs — to preserve the most favorable terms.
